Drone Shipping should be the next big thing to revolutionize the e-commerce sector in M. However, almost a decade after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos first proposed the idea, the surrounding hype with a flying robot remained unfulfilled. In addition to meeting regulations, global pandemics have also slowed the process of spreading into crawl. It wasn’t to say that the company had stopped trying. Two years after the Wing Drone shipping company owned by Alphabet began his first drone shipping service in Charlottesville, Virginia, he had added Texas to the drone shipping market list. The company confirms that it will start drones to operate in a certain area in the Dallas-Fort Worth area starting April 7. In a statement, Wing CTO Adam Woodworth said he would start shipping drones using Quadcopter drones in the cities of Frisco and Little Elm – both located in the Metro area mentioned above.
Wing said it would use a local Walgreens store as a staging area for his drone. The initial plan is to fly health and fitness products to citizens in the neighborhood. Besides Walgreens, customers in this area will also be able to order ice cream from Blue Bell Creameries, Pet Recipes from EasyVet, and first aid equipment from Exas Health.
Not everyone who lives in Frisco and Little Elm will be eligible to use the Drone Wing delivery service from the first day. The company said it would hold a service trial with a group of consumer groups in the neighborhood where they intend to launch services first. Wing said doing this to ensure people have a good first experience with shipping drones. After this phase is complete, the company intends to expand the scope of further delivery, and the customer will be given instructions on how to check their address to the feasibility of shipping drones. Interestingly, the wings take this precaution even though the company has tested the drone delivery service in the Dallas area for more than a year now.
According to the threshold, the wing will spread drones made specifically from small shipping containers parked near participating stores. After the store accepts orders from qualified customers, a store employee will take items outside the store and place it in the box attached to the drone. It’s then the work of the pilot drone wing to operate the drone remotely and safely send the product to the correct address.
Note that Wing has developed special software that calculates safe routes from the launch site to the final destination and produces a special flight plan for each delivery. This software takes into account several security considerations and even regulatory limits before the final flight route uploaded to the drone. Drone Wing can rise to a height of 130 feet and travel in almost 70 mph. After the drone reached the drop location, it slowed down and drifted at a safe height on the ground, and lowered the package, placing it gently placed the location that had been lowered. Wing confirmed that there was no human interaction needed during the shipping process.
Although the drone shipping service in Texas will only be the second commercial drone shipping service at M.S., Wing has made progress in other regions in the world, including substantial drone shipping services in Finland and Australia. The Australian city of Logan, located in Brisbane, has been a big success, with the company recently completed 50,000 drone deliveries in the region.
